Marigold Nova Calendula
Indoor Sowing:
- Sow seeds indoors 6-8 weeks before last expected frost date.
- Use a seed starting mix and sow seeds 1/4 inch deep.
- Keep soil moist and in a warm (70-75°F) location.
- Seedlings should emerge within 7-10 days.
- Transplant seedlings outdoors after all danger of frost has passed.
Outdoor Sowing:
- Sow seeds outdoors after all danger of frost has passed and soil has warmed to at least 60°F.
- Choose a sunny location with well-draining soil.
- Sow seeds 1/4 inch deep and 6 inches apart.
- Water gently and keep soil moist.
- Thin seedlings to 12 inches apart once they have their second set of true leaves.
Growing:
- Marigolds prefer full sun but will tolerate some shade.
- Water regularly, especially during hot, dry weather.
- Deadhead regularly to promote continuous blooming.
- Fertilize with a balanced fertilizer every 4-6 weeks.
- Protect plants from slugs and snails.
