Indoor Sowing:

  • Sow seeds indoors 6-8 weeks before last expected frost date.
  • Use a seed starting mix and sow seeds 1/4 inch deep.
  • Keep soil moist and in a warm (70-75°F) location.
  • Seedlings should emerge within 7-10 days.
  • Transplant seedlings outdoors after all danger of frost has passed.

Outdoor Sowing:

  • Sow seeds outdoors after all danger of frost has passed and soil has warmed to at least 60°F.
  • Choose a sunny location with well-draining soil.
  • Sow seeds 1/4 inch deep and 6 inches apart.
  • Water gently and keep soil moist.
  • Thin seedlings to 12 inches apart once they have their second set of true leaves.

Growing:

  • Marigolds prefer full sun but will tolerate some shade.
  • Water regularly, especially during hot, dry weather.
  • Deadhead regularly to promote continuous blooming.
