Sowing and Growing Guide

Pak Choi Red Wizard F1

Indoor Sowing

  • Start seeds indoors 4-6 weeks before the last expected frost date.
  • Fill seed trays with seed starting mix and sow seeds 1/4 inch deep, 2-3 seeds per cell.
  • Keep the soil moist and at a consistent temperature of 60-70°F.
  • Seedlings should emerge in 7-14 days.
  • Once seedlings have developed their first true leaves, thin them to one per cell.
  • Transplant seedlings outdoors when they are 3-4 inches tall and have at least 2-3 sets of true leaves.

Outdoor Sowing

  • Sow seeds directly into the garden 2-4 weeks before the last expected frost date.
  • Choose a location with full sun to partial shade and well-draining soil.
  • Sow seeds 1/4 inch deep and 4-6 inches apart in rows spaced 12-18 inches apart.
  • Keep the soil moist and weed-free.
  • Thin seedlings when they are 3-4 inches tall, leaving 6-8 inches between plants.

Growing

  • Pak Choi Red Wizard F1 prefers fertile, well-draining soil with a pH of 6.0-7.5.
  • Water regularly to keep the soil evenly moist, especially during hot and dry periods.
  • Fertilize with a balanced fertilizer every 3-4 weeks.
  • Provide shade or use row covers during hot weather to prevent bolting.
  • Harvest leaves when they are young and tender, usually around 4-6 weeks after sowing.
  • Regularly harvest outer leaves to promote continued growth.
