Albino White beetroot is a unique and rare variety of beetroot that has a delicate, sweet flavor and creamy-white flesh. Unlike traditional beetroot, which has a deep red or purple color, Albino White beetroot has a pale white skin and a crisp, tender texture. Albino White beetroot is typically harvested when the roots are still small, at around 2-3 inches in diameter. This variety of beetroot is easy to grow and thrives in well-drained, fertile soil. Albino White beetroot is a versatile ingredient that can be used in a wide variety of dishes, including roasted, pickled, or grated raw into salads.

Sowing and Growing Guide

Albino White Beetroot

Indoor Sowing

  • Start seeds indoors 8-10 weeks before the last frost date.
  • Sow seeds 1/2 inch deep in individual pots filled with well-draining soil.
  • Keep the soil moist and warm (around 20°C).
  • Once seedlings emerge, place them in a sunny location or under grow lights.
  • Transplant seedlings outdoors once all danger of frost has passed and the soil has warmed up.

Outdoor Sowing

  • Sow seeds directly into well-drained soil in a sunny location once all danger of frost has passed and the soil has warmed up (at least 10°C).
  • Plant the seeds 1/2 inch deep and 1 inch apart, in rows spaced 12-18 inches apart.
  • Water the soil after planting and keep it moist until the seedlings emerge.

Growing

  • Thin seedlings to 3-4 inches apart once they have grown a few inches tall.
  • Water the plants regularly, especially during dry spells.
  • Fertilize the plants with a balanced fertilizer once a month.
  • Harvest the roots when they are about 2-3 inches in diameter.
  • The roots can be roasted, boiled, or used raw in salads.
