Sowing and Growing Guide
Swiss Giant Mixed Pansy
Indoor Sowing
- Start seeds indoors 8-10 weeks before the last expected frost date.
- Fill seed trays with a seed starting mix and sow seeds 1/8 inch deep, 2-3 seeds per cell.
- Keep the soil moist and at a consistent temperature of 60-65°F.
- Seedlings should emerge in 10-14 days.
- Once seedlings have developed their first true leaves, thin them to one per cell.
- Transplant seedlings outdoors when they are 4-6 inches tall and have at least two sets of true leaves.
Outdoor Sowing
- Sow seeds directly into the garden in early spring or fall, after the last expected frost date.
- Choose a location with well-draining soil that receives partial shade to full sun.
- Sow seeds 1/8 inch deep and 4-6 inches apart in rows spaced 12-18 inches apart.
- Keep the soil moist and weed-free.
- Thin seedlings when they are 2-3 inches tall, leaving 6-8 inches between plants.
