Sowing and Growing Guide
Perfection Cucumber
Indoor Sowing
- Start seeds indoors 3-4 weeks before the last expected frost date.
- Fill seed trays with seed starting mix and sow seeds 1/2 inch deep, one per cell.
- Keep the soil moist and at a consistent temperature of 70-75°F.
- Seedlings should emerge in 7-10 days.
- Once seedlings have developed their first true leaves, transplant them to larger pots.
- Transplant seedlings outdoors when they are 3-4 weeks old and have been hardened off to outdoor conditions.
Outdoor Sowing
- Sow seeds directly into the garden after the last expected frost date.
- Choose a sunny location with well-draining soil that has been amended with compost.
- Sow seeds 1/2 inch deep and 2-3 feet apart in rows spaced 5-6 feet apart.
- Keep the soil moist and weed-free.
- Thin seedlings when they are 3-4 inches tall, leaving 1-2 feet between plants.
Growing
- Perfection cucumbers prefer well-draining soil that is rich in organic matter.
- Water consistently to keep soil evenly moist but not waterlogged.
- Fertilize once a month with a balanced fertilizer.
- Provide support for the vines to climb, such as a trellis or fence.
- Harvest cucumbers when they are 6-8 inches long and have a bright green color.
- Check plants daily for ripe cucumbers to prevent overripe fruits and to encourage continuous fruit production.
