Snowball cauliflower has large, compact, white heads and a sweet flavour. The heads can grow up to 6-7 inches in diameter and are surrounded by thick, green leaves that protect the cauliflower from sunburn and insect damage. Snowball cauliflower has a mild, nutty flavour and is a great source of nutrients, including vitamin C, vitamin K, and folate. The plant is easy to grow and maintain, making it a great choice for beginner gardeners. Snowball cauliflower is typically ready to harvest in around 60-70 days after planting and is best harvested when the heads are firm and compact.

Sowing and Growing Guide

Snowball Cauliflower

  • Indoor Sowing:

    • Sow seeds indoors 4-6 weeks before the last frost date in your area.
    • Use seed trays filled with potting soil and place one seed per cell or pot.
    • Keep the soil moist and in a warm location until seedlings emerge.
    • Once seedlings are a few inches tall and have a few leaves, they can be transplanted outdoors.
  • Outdoor Sowing:

    • Sow seeds outdoors directly in the garden bed 2-4 weeks before the last frost date in your area.
    • Plant the seeds 1/4 inch deep and 2-3 inches apart.
    • Once the seedlings are a few inches tall and have a few leaves, thin them to 12-18 inches apart.
  • Growing:

    • Choose a location with full sun or partial shade and well-draining soil with a pH between 6.0 and 7.0.
    • Keep the soil moist, but not waterlogged.
    • Apply a balanced fertilizer every 3-4 weeks during the growing season.
    • Harvest the cauliflower heads when they are firm, compact, and white.
    • Cut the heads from the stem and remove any leaves.
